Short answer

Our sustainable farm in the mountains of Nicoya welcomes volunteers from around the world through Worldpackers. You help with animals, organic gardens and building projects, and live on a solar-powered farm in Costa Rica's Blue Zone, 45 minutes from the beach. Prefer a vacation? Stay at Bluesky Lodge, on the same mountain.

About the farm

Bluesky Lodge & Farm is a small, sustainable project in the hills above Nicoya. We run on solar power and draw water from our own well. We raise animals, grow organic gardens, and are always building or fixing something. Volunteers are a big part of how the farm grows.

What volunteers do

  • Animal care: feeding, cleaning, and looking after the farm animals.
  • Organic gardening: planting, mulching, harvesting and keeping the gardens alive through the dry season.
  • Building and repair: construction projects and maintenance around the farm.

Current hours, minimum stay and accommodation details are always up to date on our Worldpackers listing, along with reviews from past volunteers.

Life in the Nicoya Blue Zone

Nicoya is one of the world's Blue Zones, regions known for people living unusually long, healthy lives. Simple food, physical work, family and a sense of purpose are part of daily life here, and as a volunteer you live that rhythm instead of just reading about it.

On days off, you're close to:

  • Nicoya town (10 min): shops, sodas, buses.
  • Playa Sámara (45 min): calm water and beginner surfing.
  • Barra Honda caves (30 min).

Arriving? Here's how to get to the farm, including the bus to Nicoya and our 4x4 road.
